Happy Orientation Day!!!
Last night’s evening program, Opening Night Skits, was a blast. Through the comedic journey of a mishmashed band in search of the perfect components, campers found out all the classes that will be offered in the session’s first two weeks.
Which leads us to today, when campers got to officially choose their four classes! The busy schedule also featured swim evaluations at the lake and pool, cabin meetings and grounds tours plus background ‘fuzzy’ time. The late afternoon rain – or ‘shvitz’, as we call it – couldn’t deter the infectious energy.
In their cabins, campers finished unpacking and settling in while cabin rules and routines, decorations alongside enthusiastic reunions and introductions were made. In the prelude to a delicious dinner, the backyard was abuzz with laughter, chatter and activity as interest-group style games took place and old and new friendships bloomed.
Amid all the action, individual camper photos were taken en route to your mailbox!
The day ended with a soulful gathering at the peaceful, aptly-named Pinegrove following a signature silent walk up the hill. Campers, counselors and staff gathered on tree stumps around a fire where cabins gave spirited vocal performances and storied traditional songs were spun. It was a magical sound, the over-200 voices filling the pine-scented air with the lilting melody “Oh, how lovely is the evening.”
Holding my fiery breath for the first day of classes tomorrow!
