Howdy-doo, all! Carolina the duckling here, your trusty blogger while Sadie is taking a long overdue trip to Peru to visit her family. So much happening here at HVC! Last night we had a performance by our beloved Kim and Reggie, who have been coming here to perform every summer for as long as anyone in the animal pen can remember! It’s such a treat for everyone to see them onstage–and not only for the kids, but for the adults as well, and we animals love hearing all that music and joy from the Rec Hall! But I’m getting ahead of myself. Yesterday was buuuuusy! Pajama Day, class sign-ups for the second two weeks of camp, and Cabin Day activities, AND THEN the amazing Kim-and-Reggie evening program. I had to take a nap in the middle of the day to recharge, there was so much going on. Here’s what everyone got up to for Cabin Day activities:
- Loons: hand-building pottery
- Avalon: egg drop at Upper Carriage House
- Wombles: sing-along
- French Quarter: food fairies and t-shirts
- Gimme Shelter: glass pendants with Philippe
- Paquatahnee: blockprint carving
- Valhalla: collage
- Shangri-La: decorating bags
- Bermuda Triangle: poker and abstract painting
- Forbidden Planet: decorating fanny packs
- Fiddler’s Green: hot glass and hot chocolate
- Camelot: curtain-painting and a special workshop with Kim
- Taj Mahal: tie-dye
- Halley’s Comet: bleach-dye t-shirts
- Community: painting a bookshelf
What fun was had! After all that, today was the first day of classes for the second two weeks of the session, and what a glorious sunny day it was after yesterday’s hours of rain! Check out our photos of yesterday and today!
Fuzzily yours,
CD
