First Day of Classes!!

Wednesday, June 30th, 2021

Sadie here again!

Yesterday I mentioned Peter announcing that we in fact have no COVID positive cases on camp at camp meeting. I just have to take a few minutes again today to tell you what a sigh of relief we felt ripple through all of camp. After dinner last night every cabin was chilling in the backyard and their level of relaxation was off the charts. We, the llamas, (who do allll the planning around these parts) had to tell ourselves to chill out and embrace this level of relaxation. Sometimes we can get a little too fixated on sticking to the plan! But last night we all leaned into this new calm and boy did it feel wonderful. At our evening program when the older half wasn’t into the movie planned for them but wanted to play basketball and sit around and chat we decided to follow their lead and let them have the time they’ve been aching for for almost two years now. At the end of the day, camp’s all about the people (or the llamas) and our relationships with each other. I can’t tell you how good it felt to see their friendships back in action!

Today we woke up to an egg bar breakfast and the FIRST DAY OF CLASSES! A long awaited day! As I speak we have campers designing mosaic and stained glass projects, jumping in the pool, swinging tennis rackets, rocking out in rock band, and so much more! We even have a cabin getting up on the ropes course today! And some in the glass blowing studio! There’s so many cool classes I can barely keep track!

Tonight’s evening program is the renowned Llamapalooza! Back in staff training our counselors got a chance to experience this evening program and tonight they’ll be running it for the kids! Cabins will be rotating through different activities together. They’ll be water balloons flying, blind clay sculpting, and much more! It’s going to be AWESOME!

Tomorrow’s a lazy day around these parts and Sadie here will be leaning into the laziness and taking a day off from blog. We’ll be back full force on Friday! Keep an eye out!

We’re Breaking out in Song and Dance!

Tuesday, June 29th, 2021

Hiya folks, Sadie the Llama here!

We got some show stopping, break out and song and dance kind of news this afternoon… We have no positive COVID cases on camp. If you haven’t checked your email recently- check it! We learned this afternoon that a mistake was made in the lab. We are happy to announce that we’re all happy, healthy, and living our best lives! We had a cabin break out in song and dance our of excitement about this announcement. Our campers who went home will be returning to us! Check out some pictures in the gallery of cheering at camp meeting! We are beyond THRILLED with this news! And, all just in time for classes to start tomorrow!

Tomorrow we’ll all be getting into our class groove and buzzing around from one period to the next. Campers might be designing glass projects, starting to sculpt with clay, jumping in the pool, shooting a bow and arrow or learning to play the ukulele. The possibilities are endless!

It’s been a long, hot, beautiful day. Sadie the Llama’s gotta hit the hay! But you’ll be hearing from me again soon!

Camelot worked on a glass project with two of our professional artists.

Taj Mahal did promos (created a skit that promotes what’s coming up in the next few days) and performed them at camp meeting.

Bermuda Triangle

Forbidden Triangle wrote a cabin cheer and we recorded it for the camp DVD.

Haley’s Comet had their swim evals today and spent lots of time with those horses!

Sadie the Llama back again!

What a day we had around here! The first full day of campers bustling around camp. My oh my was it wonderful! Every cabin had their own schedule to follow today. Filled with different activities. Some activities everyone did; we all signed up for our first two weeks of classes, jumped in the lake or pool for swim evals and went on a camp tour.

Other activities were cabin specific. Here’s the inside scoop on what everyone was up to…Haley’s Comet did glass blowing, Loons went on Peter’s secret tour (if you know, you know), Avalon orbited Planet Meg, Wombles and French Quarter played yard games, PaquatahneeGimme Shelter, Forbidden Planet and Bermuda Triangle had time in their cabin groups to hang out at the animal barn and swing by the camp store. Valhalla and Shangri-La hung out and played games in the backyard, Fiddler’s Green and Taj worked on glass projects with Phillipe, Camelot made natural beauty products with one of our fabulous prostaff, Amanda. Community starting planning for a community service project involving pizza (stay tuned for more on that soon!) and HVA lent a hand in preparing for Pinegrove, they built our fire and led all of camp up Tipi Hill. It was a busy, wonderful day!

Can’t wait to fill you in on the scoop tomorrow!
