Hi all!!
Yesterday evening after a memorable Junk Food Day, we gathered at the outdoor rec hall field for a brilliant Sharing Night watching our friends present glimpses of what they’ve been up to these past two weeks in classes. With the acts including upbeat and heartfelt musical performances across several instruments and four different dance styles plus a spirited sneak-peek number from the Matilda cast alongside presentations by mountain biking, pickleball and lip sync battle, the program was brimming with talent, laughs and good spirits – see pics below!
Today we’ve hit the 2-week mark, which means – among other transitions – it’s PJ Day!! Though the skies may have whipped up some shvitz, we’re all armored up in our coziest gear and surrounded by friends: some of whom we’ll be wishing well today as they move on from their HVC journeys this summer.
After ambling into the dining hall for a delightful pancake breakfast to start the day on a sweet note, we’ve kicked off our lazy morning with backyard and red barn time featuring shvitz-friendly activities in addition to Book Fair – where campers get to peruse and choose their next reads from the storied Red Barn library collection and collect their annual t-shirt – and class sign-ups for the next two weeks!
Alongside many of the same eclectic offerings, our class roster has welcomed exciting additions including multiple classes with pro-staff working in screenprinting and yarn-based crafts not to mention an advanced immersive theater class, new writing-based classes and a debut class starring Spaghetti!
After this lazy yet lively morning, we’ll have lunch as cabins – many with new campers! – before heading into our established or novel abodes for cabin cleaning, rest period and daytime cabin activities around camp. (See the list below!)
This evening, we’ll gather all together again for the premiere of the first two-week Camp Video in the Rec Hall before dinner. Afterwards, we’ll be treated to – for the first time ever – an enchanting showcase by the acclaimed performing artist Leland Faulkner, a tribal member of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa alongside master mime artist, actor, magician, filmmaker and storyteller. It’s bound to be a spectacular night!
