Awesome edited shot of staff working down at the lake!
Hey there, folks! Olive Oyl here with some pre-camp news for you!
Today was an exciting day as we set up the docks in the lake, which is a huge and vital camp-prep job. We had a beautiful sunny morning to take a trip down to the lake and cool off in the water. Even though there’s only a small crew on camp at the moment, we had all hands on deck (ha ha!) to get the job done. We also did some odds and ends down at the lake, like hauling wood and prepping the area for camper arrival.
it was also a busy day for our horse folks, who got four horses today (the rest are coming next week) and have been enjoying the lovely riding weather. There’ll be a lot more excitement next week as more lifeguard, ropes, and horse staff arrive and start their area trainings.
Lots of work is still underway with our new buildings on camp, the Buckhorn and the new glass blowing studio by the Foothills. We can’t wait for staff to keep trickling in as we continue to prepare camp for the summer ahead!
I’m signing off for the next couple of days, but stayed tuned next week for lots of updates on our horse, waterfront, and ropes areas as training and setup begin!
Lots of love,
Courtney and Lindsey, our fabulous work crew!

The new Buckhorn is underway, with a beautiful structure shaping up. Our horse folks has been busy in the barn, both training new staff and getting the barn ready for campers. We’ve got lots of work crews happening to get camp in full summer mode. Our office staff have been working hard doing the nitty gritty behind the scenes aspects of camp life. And lastly, our full PD crew has finally come together and they’ve been having lots of meetings to plan for the fantastic summer ahead. We’ve got a big day tomorrow putting in the docks at the lake, which requires all of our pre-camp crew and usually ends with a dip in the lake to cool off.

Howdy, folks! Olive Oyl here with a quick update about some new animal friends on camp!
Say hello to our new alpacas! Our llamas have already been acquainted and they approve! Our three baby alpacas, who are 1-2 years old, will be part of animal and llama care classes this summer. Our new not-so-furry friends are becoming acquainted with HVC and looking forward to the summer!
Ta-ta for now,
Hi, friends! Olive Oyl here with a springtime update for you!
Finally, the snow has all melted and spring is in the air. Flowers are blooming, grass is growing, and the Magnolia tree is looking magnificent. Springtime also means lots of new projects around camp! We’re putting in new windows in the barn, starting up our garden, and laying the foundation for the new Buckhorn.
It’s hard to believe that in a few weeks, counselors and staff will start trickling in to get camp ready for our first session. Lots of painting projects, clearing trails, and getting cabins ready for campers. And before we know it, arrival day will be upon us! We can’t wait to see what this summer has in store!
Lots of love,
